OSHA Announces Hearings on Proposed Revisions to Hazard Communication Standard

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has scheduled a series of informal hearings on its proposal to revise the Hazard Communication Standard to conform with the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). GHS is intended to provide a single, harmonized system to classify chemicals, labels and safety data sheets with the intention of increasing the quality and consistency of information provided to workers, employers and chemical users.

The hearings will be held on March 2 in Washington, D.C.; March 31 in Pittsburgh, Pa.; and April 13 in Los Angeles, Calif. The Washington, D.C. hearing will be held in the auditorium of the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20210.
